SRS Group (formerly called SRS Light Design) was founded by Robert Sloboda in 1992 originally as a rental company. SRS Light Design provided technical support on concerts and live events.

Due to the necessity to use a high quality digital dimming unit, Robert Sloboda designed and constructed his first dimmer pack. The dimmer pack with 12 channels, smart cooling system and discontinuous operation on the full load was used on several concerts and caught attention of all its users. The dimmer pack's demand grew and later, in 1994, there was a need to start its production for commercial purposes. Robert Sloboda therefore hired his first employees and started serial production.

In 1994, SRS bulit its first custom Power Distribution unit. It consisted of 1x 16A, 5x 32A and 3x 230V 16A outputs and was used on tours.

1995 was the year when SRS widened its portfolio with a launch of DMX splitter production. The first splitter had 6 separate isolated outputs with 3-pin connectors and an input with direct output on the front panel.

As the years were passing, customers' demands for product specifications became higher and SRS team did its best to satisfy their customers. SRS established its own R&D department which's first results came in form of splitters and power distribution units and six-channel dimmers with variable output connectors. At the same time, all products were tested on various events by the company itself.

SRS produced a custom-made pyro controller in 2000. It was requested by popular Slovak rental company. The pyro controller consists of 48 channels controlled by DMX and is used to trigger pyrotechnical equipment.

In 2002, SRS participated at Prolight+Sound exhibition in Frankfurt am Main for the first time. SRS collected first international contacts and received first international orders. Prolight+Sound became a key exhibition for SRS to take place at and therefore SRS has never missed an opportunity to exhibit since then. It later exhibited at SIB in Rimini and since 2006 London has been a place to be for SRS at annual Plasa exhibition.

With a continuous progress, SRS employed new staff members and required bigger premises. Therefore, in 2005, SRS Group began the construction of its own building. The building was designed to fulfill all the requirements for R&D, storage, production and administration. At the same time, SRS was fully functioning in rented premises developing new products, receiving orders and satisfying customers' needs. In September of 2006, the construction of its two-story building on Rybnicna 36/D in Bratislava was brought to the end and the company moved in its headquarters and warehouse. The SRS Rental Company also moved its warehouse in a part of the building.

Year 2006 was a key year for SRS. Apart from the new building, SRS Group was rewarded the first PLASA member in central Europe. PLASA membership allows SRS to be a part of the professional community.

In 2009, there was a need for SRS to widen their product line. Apart from lighting equipment that included DMX controlled dimmers, splitters, converters and lighting consoles, SRS decided to start R&D of something advanced though not DMX controlled - Motor/Hoist Controllers. Motor Controllers were developed with Automatic Phase Align and Voltage Metering and to be compatible with motors and hoists of leading motor producing companies, easy to use and reliable. As first manufacturer worldwide we created concept of Wireless Motor Controllers with light and durable remote control using the Motorola battery with smart power saving.

In 2011, SRS entered the US market and started production of hoist controllers with US type of connectors (Twistlock+Socapex 7). In the same year, SRS presented its products on LDI in Orlando 2011 and one year later in Las Vegas 2012.

With the increasing number of orders, the demands of SRS for the metal work increased and made it reasonable for building own metal workshop. In 2013 SRS therefore purchased machines and started its own Silkscreen, Laser Cutting, Bending, Powder Coating and Laser Engraving production in house.
The demands for the space increased as well, so SRS Rental Company was moved to another building leaving more room for the technicians and machines.

In 2014, SRS started using a special 3D drawing software to make custom PDU visualizations more realistic and better understandable for its customers.
Every customer can along with product diagram also request a 3D pdf file that can be previewed on most computers.

Company celebrates its 25th anniversary of existence by introducing its new name as SRS Group.
SRS Group consists of 3 divisions: SRS Lighting, SRS Rigging and SRS Power that now have their own logos, websites and distribution networks.
The new identity was introduced at Prolight and Sound 2017 in Frankfurt am Main at the booth party.

2018 has been another successful year for SRS Group. Introducing new products, launching new processes, attending major trade shows… and, most importantly, moving our company to bigger and more spacious premises, were the key factors that made SRS Group take another big step ahead.
The new premises brought us new opportunities in the production – not only more space for already working production, but also possibilities to grow our team and to move forward technologically by expanding our machinery. Almost three-times bigger premises gave us a chance to be more dynamic and flexible with delivering our products of superior quality to reach maximum customer satisfaction.
